January 2008 Library Advisory Board Meeting

The first Library Advisory Board meeting of the new year will take place on Wednesday, January 2 at 5 p.m.. The meeting is set in the Monument Room on the second floor of the Hart Memorial Library.

Meetings are free and open to the public and anyone interested in library policy or who wishes to bring ideas before the board are welcome to come.

January 2008 Movies at the Library

Too cold outside? Come and join us at the Library for some of the latest new movie releases. Free heat, free popcorn, and free entertainment. We offer two film series every month: Movies at the Library and Oscar Presents. Films are shown in each Library’s multipurpose room up on the big screen. Film ratings are posted next to each movie title.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (PG-13)

Take a break and come together at the Library for a movie. Captain Jack Sparrow and his crew are prepared to amaze you!

Come to the library in January for the continuation of our popular grant writing series. There is plenty to learn for aspiring grant writers of all levels so sign up for a free and informative learning experience.


Grant Writing Lunch & Learn: Logic Models - "A Birds Eye View"

The logic model is a tool used to develop outcome-based program evaluations. Participants will gain an understanding of how the logic model works and create one for a project. Bring your lunch along for a true learning luncheon.

December 2007 Library Closings

All branches of the Osceola Library System will be closed on the following dates in December:

Christmas Eve

All libraries will close at 6 p.m.

The buildings will be closed but all materials, including CDs and DVDs, can still be returned those days into the designated book drops located outside of each branch. All branches will reopen for service Wednesday, December 26. For any questions call 407.742.8888.

Holiday Extravaganza - Winter Wonderland Luau

"Aloha Kalikimaka!"

This month at Hart Memorial youth services will be putting on the 3rd annual Holiday Extravaganza. Bring the entire family along as well as those letters to Santa for a fantastic Winter Wonderland Luau. We'll be learning to hula, having a game of limbo, and making Starfish Angels and other ornaments to take home. There might even be a chance to ask Santa if he's been hanging 10 on his vacation in Florida.

This Holiday Extravaganza is going to be the best yet, so come on by and have some great family fun. The Winter Wonderland Luau will be on Saturday, December 15 at Hart Memorial. It will be upstairs in the Lillie Room and the fun starts at Noon, so don't be late!
